Golf at the Cascades, Romeo Michigan c1928

A Vintage Photo Shows Four Golfers On A Grassy Course, With One Man Preparing To Hit And Three Others Watching Near A Standing Golf Bag.

Four golfers line up a shot on an open fairway in this labeled photo, “Golf at Cascades, Romeo, Mich.” A canvas golf bag stands in the grass while friends watch the swing — a crisp snapshot of late-1920s leisure.

“The Cascades” was a planned resort-style development in Ray Township near Romeo. Local history notes it featured a nine-hole golf course (about 1,600 yards), and that the clubhouse and dam opened to the public in 1928 as part of the project. The development’s big dreams stalled after 1929, but the site remained part of local memory — and the original course later tied into what’s known as the “Golden Nine” at Pine Valley.

Do you know who’s pictured here — or did your family ever play The Cascades?
