Destruction Found at Kehoe Farm – Bath School Explosion – May 18, 1927

Black-And-White Photo Of A Debris-Strewn Field With A Dead Farm Animal In The Foreground And People Standing Near Early Automobiles In The Background.

A grim scene on the edge of Bath Township: wreckage in a field, a dead farm animal in the foreground, and visitors arriving by car to look over the damage.

This photo is titled “Destruction Found at Kehoe Farm,” and it appears to show the aftermath at Andrew Kehoe’s property on May 18, 1927 — the same morning he bombed Bath Consolidated School. Investigators later documented that Kehoe destroyed his farm buildings with explosives and fire as part of the wider attack, and that his wife, Nellie Kehoe, was killed at the farm before the school bombing.

The writing on the photo uses harsh language (“crazed maniac”), a reminder that these images were often made as sensational keepsakes in the immediate aftermath — while the community was still trying to understand what had happened.

Have you ever seen family photos, postcards, or newspaper clippings from the Bath disaster era?
