Main Street in Niles is busy with pedestrians, storefronts and an electric railway car in this scene from around 1910. The Michigan Inn sign is clearly visible on the left, while the trolley or interurban car travels along tracks in the center of the street.
Electric interurban service connected Niles with South Bend by 1902 and was extended north toward St. Joseph in 1906. Contemporary newspaper accounts also confirm that the Michigan Inn was operating in Niles during this period.
