Store Fronts of Roscommon Michigan c1939

A Vintage Photo Of Downtown Roscommon, Michigan, Shows Several Storefronts With Signs For Mccredie’s Groceries &Amp; Meats, Beanie’s, And A Soda/Drugs Shop, With Parked Cars And A Water Tower Behind The Buildings.

Downtown Roscommon, Michigan, is pictured with a row of storefronts — McCredie’s Groceries & Meats, Beanie’s (with a “Beer Lunches” sign), and a corner Soda/Drugs spot — plus a Coca-Cola sign and a water tower rising behind the buildings. The handwritten caption at the bottom reads “Roscommon, Mich.”

The vehicles suggest this photo was taken sometime in the 1930s or 1940s, but the exact year isn’t confirmed from the front. Roscommon is the county seat of Roscommon County, and the village was incorporated in the 1880s.

A later local newsletter about Higgins Lake memories even name-checks shopping at McCredie’s Grocery store in town.

Do you remember McCredie’s, Beanie’s, or the soda fountain — or where these buildings stood?
